Kotarski and Golden Key to Chances
Governors Face Groton

By BILL KIPOURAS

A pair of sophomores with great potential, Mike Kotarski of Peabody and Terry Golden of Winchester, have been trusted with the task of keeping Governor Dummer Academy's offense rolling following an injury to ace halfback Warren Vaughan.

ALTERNATE MIKE,
TERRY AT LEFT HALF

Kotarski and Golden, therefore, hold the key to the Governors' chances of posting their first victory over arch rival, Groton Schoo!, since 1954 when the teams meet Saturday at Groton. Coach Bill Sperry was forced to elevate the two youngsters to starting status when Vaughan suffered a shoulder separation against Milton Academy.

"We'll alternate Mike and Terry at left half," reports Sperry "Each has good speed, In wind sprints they always finish nose to nose ahead of the team. Kotarski was top scorer for the Freshmen last fall. Golden, 10 pounds lighter than Kotarski at 150, has been plugging from the start."

The Governors, 2-2, thus far with wins over Moses Brown and Milton Academy and losses to St. Sebastian's and Browne & Nichols, will miss the services of Vaughan, a senior from Weston. Vaughan was the leading ground gainer with an average of 6.1 per carry.

Kotarski, who has a brother, George, at Exeter Academy, is distinguished as the first underclassman to captain a Governor Dummer baseball team. He won a regular berth (right field) as a freshman, batted .319 and was honored with the captaincy by teammates. Golden has a brother, Dennis, a senior, who is a defensive specialist for the Governors.

Governor Dummer probably has the lightest linebacker in Private School football. He is senior Pete Buck, 5-foot-7, 130-pounder from Bethlehem, Penn. "He's got an awful lot of heart," says assistant Bob Anderson. The Governors, incidentally, "have revived their Cross Country program. Coach is Dave McLean, former Harvard cross country captain. Captain is Peter Entwistle, an English exchange student.
