Important Dates:

TOWN VOTING WILL BE TUESDAY, JUNE 13, AT THE TOWN HALL FROM 10:00 AM TO 8:OOPM.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING WILL BE SATURDAY, JUNE 17 AT 10:00 AM AT THE APPLETON VILLAGE SCHOOL.

Department Heads should check the Due Dates for Budget Requests, Warrant Articles, Reports for the Annual Report.

To be elected in 2006:
1 selectman (3-yr term)
2 members to the School Board (3-yr terms)
1 member to the Planning Board (3-yr term)
1 associate member to the Planning Board (3-yr term)

Paperwork necessary to run for these offices is available at the Town Hall. Deadline for returning your paperwork to the Town Hall is April 28 at 1:30 p.m.

2006 Mowing Bid:

The Town of Appleton is requesting sealed bids for the mowing of:

Town Office/Fire Station Area

Picnic Areas on both sides of Sennebec Road adjacent to St. George River. (Note: The picnic area on the opposite side of the Sennebec Road from the Town Hall could be as much as 1/3 smaller due to the planned children's garden by the Library Association.)

Ben Ness Park at the intersection of Sennebec Road and Rte 131.

1) Bids must be returned to the Town Office no later than 7:00PM on Tuesday, May 09, 2006. All bids will be publicly opened at 7:15PM, May 09, 2006. Contract will be awarded no later than May 09, 2006.

2) All bids must be submitted on the proper bid form (available with bid specifications at the Town Hall or download here as a .pdf) prior to bid opening. Any questions should be directed to the Selectmen at 785-4722.

3) The contract will be awarded to the lowest acceptable bidder. The Town of Appleton reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. The successful bidder may be required to produce evidence of his/her ability to adequately perform the work before the bid is awarded.
